Formula Used

The calculator uses the common fermentation mass balance. One gram of fermentable sugar can produce about 0.511 g of ethanol and about 0.489 g of carbon dioxide.

Fermented sugar = sugar grams × fermentable percent × attenuation percent

Ethanol grams = fermented sugar × 0.511

Ethanol ml = ethanol grams ÷ ethanol density

ABV % = ethanol ml ÷ final liquid ml × 100

Gravity ABV = (original gravity - final gravity) × 131.25
