FAQs

1) What is the difference between percent and fixed hikes?

A percent hike scales with your current pay, so the raise grows as salary grows. A fixed hike adds the same amount regardless of salary level. Choose the one that matches your offer or policy.

2) Why does the calculator convert to annual salary?

Annualizing makes comparisons consistent across monthly and yearly inputs. It also simplifies bonus, tax, inflation, and multi-year projections. Monthly figures are shown again in the results for readability.

3) How is the first-year gain estimated?

The tool pro-rates the annual raise based on the days remaining in the year after your effective date. It is a quick estimate and may differ from payroll rules, cutoffs, and exact pay cycles.

4) Is the tax calculation accurate for my country?

It is an estimate using a single flat rate you provide. Real tax systems use brackets, exemptions, deductions, and different treatment for bonuses. Use the tax rate field as a planning approximation only.

5) What does inflation-adjusted value mean here?

It estimates purchasing power after inflation. If inflation is high, the real value of your total compensation can be meaningfully lower than the nominal amount. This helps compare offers across years.

6) How does the projection table work?

Starting from your new base pay, the calculator compounds an annual increment percentage for each year you select. It then adds bonus (if enabled), applies your tax rate, and adjusts for inflation.

7) Can I use this for multiple offers?

Yes. Enter each offer’s hike values and optional settings, then export each result as CSV or PDF. Comparing downloads side-by-side makes it easier to evaluate tradeoffs in total and real compensation.

8) What if my bonus is irregular or performance-based?

Use a conservative expected value, or run multiple scenarios. For example, try a low bonus and a high bonus case. This gives a range of outcomes and helps you plan with uncertainty.
