Formula Used

Merchandise Revenue = Quantity × Item Price Per Unit

Seller-Collected Revenue = Merchandise Revenue + Shipping Charged + Handling Charged

Buyer Total = Seller-Collected Revenue + Sales Tax Collected

Final Value Fee = Final Value Fee Base × Final Value Fee Rate

Final Value Fee Base = Seller-Collected Revenue + Sales Tax Collected, if tax is included

Promoted Listing Fee = Seller-Collected Revenue × Promoted Listing Rate

Payment Fee = (Payment Fee Base × Payment Fee Rate) + Fixed Payment Fee

International Fee = Buyer Total × International Fee Rate

Platform Fees Total = Insertion Fee + Final Value Fee + Promoted Listing Fee + Payment Fee + International Fee + Store Allocation + Fixed Ad Cost

Operational Costs = Cost Of Goods + Actual Shipping + Packaging + Insurance + Refund Reserve + Other Costs

Net Proceeds Before Product Costs = Seller-Collected Revenue − Platform Fees Total

Net Profit = Seller-Collected Revenue − Platform Fees Total − Operational Costs

Profit Margin % = (Net Profit ÷ Seller-Collected Revenue) × 100

Required Item Price is solved from the same equation using your target profit input.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does this calculator use official marketplace fee rates?

No. It uses the values you enter. Fee rates vary by category, plan, region, and ad settings, so update every input to match your actual statement.

2. Why are there separate product costs and platform fees?

Platform fees measure selling charges. Product costs measure inventory and fulfillment expenses. Separating them helps you see payout, true profit, and where margin gets lost.

3. Should sales tax be included in fee calculations?

That depends on how your statement is structured. The calculator gives you both options through checkboxes, so you can mirror the fee base used in your reports.

4. What is the difference between payout and profit?

Payout before product costs removes platform deductions only. Profit goes further by subtracting inventory, shipping, packaging, insurance, refunds, and any extra operating costs.

5. Can I model promoted listings and advertising?

Yes. Use the promoted listing percentage for ad-attributed order fees. Use fixed ad cost when you want to allocate a manual campaign amount per order.

6. What does the required item price result mean?

It estimates the per-unit selling price needed to hit your chosen target profit, while keeping the other entered fees and costs unchanged.

7. Can this handle multi-quantity orders?

Yes. Quantity scales merchandise revenue and unit cost automatically. Shipping, handling, and other order-level costs stay fixed unless you change them.

8. Can I export my results for reporting?

Yes. After calculating, use the CSV button for spreadsheet work and the PDF button for a portable summary you can save or share.
