Advanced Cut Off Percentage Calculator

Plan admissions confidently using weighted marks, section scores, and goals. See gaps early across categories. Make better application decisions using clearer cut off insights.

Calculator Inputs

Enter scores, maximum marks, and section weights. Results appear above this form after submission.

Example Data Table

Section Obtained Maximum Weight Section % Weighted Contribution
Board Exam 78 100 30 78.00% 23.40%
Entrance Test 88 100 35 88.00% 30.80%
Aptitude Test 142 200 25 71.00% 17.75%
Interview 18 20 10 90.00% 9.00%
Weighted Cut Off Percentage 80.95%

Formula Used

Section Percentage = (Obtained Marks ÷ Maximum Marks) × 100

Weighted Contribution = (Section Percentage × Section Weight) ÷ Total Entered Weight

Weighted Cut Off Percentage = Sum of all Weighted Contributions

Raw Overall Percentage = (Total Obtained Marks ÷ Total Maximum Marks) × 100

This calculator normalizes weights automatically. That means your result stays valid even when total entered weight is not exactly 100.

FAQs

1) What is a cut off percentage?

A cut off percentage is the minimum percentage needed for admission, selection, or eligibility. Institutions may compute it from marks, entrance tests, interviews, or weighted academic components.

2) Why is weighted cut off different from raw overall percentage?

Raw overall percentage uses total marks only. Weighted cut off gives different importance to sections. That makes it more useful when institutions value entrance tests or interviews more heavily.

3) Do my weights need to equal 100?

No. This calculator normalizes all entered weights automatically. You can enter 30, 40, 20, and 10, or any other valid mix, and the final weighted percentage still remains correct.

4) Can I use this for college and school admissions?

Yes. It works for school admissions, university screening, merit calculations, scholarship shortlisting, and internal educational evaluations that depend on weighted scores and target thresholds.

5) What does difference from target mean?

Difference from target shows how far your weighted cut off is above or below your chosen benchmark. A positive value means you exceeded the target. A negative value means you still need improvement.

6) Which score should I trust more: raw or weighted?

Use weighted cut off when the institution applies section weights. Use raw overall percentage when every mark is treated equally. If official criteria exist, always match the official method.

7) Can this calculator help compare multiple admission scenarios?

Yes. Change marks, weights, or target values to compare likely outcomes. This is useful for evaluating best-case, expected, and conservative scenarios before applying.

8) What is the benefit of the graph?

The graph helps you see which sections perform well and which ones contribute most to the weighted cut off. That makes revision planning and strategy decisions easier.
