FAQs

1) Can I calculate without weights?

Yes. Choose Equal Average or Credit Hours. Leave Weight% empty, and the calculator will compute overall percent from the selected method.

2) What happens if bonus pushes marks above total?

If “Cap adjusted marks” is enabled, adjusted marks stay within total. If disabled, adjusted marks can exceed total, but percent is still limited to 100.

3) Do I need credit hours for GPA?

Credit hours are recommended. If credits are missing, GPA is averaged equally across included subjects, which may not match your institution’s policy.

4) How is pass or fail decided?

If any included subject percent falls below its pass mark, overall status becomes Fail. Subjects excluded from totals do not affect the overall status.

5) Can I set different pass marks per subject?

Yes. Fill the subject pass mark field. If you leave it empty, the global pass mark percentage is used for that subject automatically.

6) Why does overall percent change with method selection?

Equal Average treats every subject the same. Weight% emphasizes selected subjects. Credit Hours matches typical transcript calculations by giving larger subjects more influence.

7) Are grade boundaries customizable?

This version offers Standard, Strict, and Lenient boundaries. If you need a specific boundary table, you can edit the threshold arrays in the file.

8) What do the downloads include?

CSV contains full per-subject details plus overall totals. PDF contains a compact summary with per-subject percent, letter grade, and pass status.
