Formula Used
The total incoming damage multiplier ($M$) for a specific attacking type against a multi-type or modified Pokémon is computed using cumulative product logic combined with modifier coefficients:
$$M = (\prod_{i=1}^{n} E_i) \times A \times I$$
Where $E_i$ represents the individual type effectiveness multiplier from the standard type chart for each defending type component, $A$ represents ability multipliers (such as Filter or Thick Fat), and $I$ denotes held item modifiers like the Air Balloon.
How to Use This Calculator
- Select your Pokémon's primary type from the first dropdown menu.
- Choose a secondary type if your Pokémon has a dual typing, or leave it as None.
- Select any specific defensive abilities or held items that alter incoming damage calculations.

Comprehensive Pokémon Type Defense Guide
Mastering type interactions is essential for competitive battling, team building, and surviving high-tier raids. Every Pokémon possesses one or two baseline types that interact with eighteen unique offensive elements. Understanding these complex mechanics allows trainers to switch safely, minimize damage intake, and maximize tactical advantages during crucial turns.
Dual-typed creatures multiply individual effectiveness values together. For instance, a Rock and Ground typing creates unique immunities and dual weaknesses that require careful analysis. Furthermore, modern gameplay features abilities like Levitate and unique battle gimmicks like Terastallization, completely rewriting defensive profiles on the fly. Utilizing a specialized calculation tool ensures accuracy and eliminates manual counting errors during intense tournament preparations.
