Formula Used

Average Item Level = Total item levels / Counted gear slots.

Gear Score = Sum of each item level × quality multiplier × slot weight, plus upgrade rank × 3.

Secondary Stat Score = Haste × 0.22 + Critical Strike × 0.24 + Mastery × 0.21 + Versatility × 0.20.

Survival Score = Stamina × 0.08 + Versatility × 0.14.

Power Index = Average item level × 2.5 + primary stat × 0.35 + secondary score + survival score.

Advanced Gear Planning for World of Warcraft

Why Gear Score Matters

World of Warcraft gear choices can change combat strength quickly. A higher item level often helps, but it is not the only factor. Quality, upgrades, role needs, and stat balance also matter. This calculator combines those areas into one practical score. It helps players compare gear sets before entering dungeons, raids, battlegrounds, or seasonal content.

Understanding Item Level

Item level gives a simple measure of equipment strength. It usually rises as content difficulty increases. Still, two items with the same level can perform differently. One may carry better secondary stats. Another may offer stronger survivability. This tool keeps average item level visible, while also adding deeper weighted values.

Role Based Thinking

Tanks often value stamina and versatility. Healers may need a careful mix of haste, mastery, and critical strike. Damage roles may prefer stats that improve burst, sustain, or resource flow. The calculator does not force one class rule. Instead, it lets you enter flexible weights. This makes it useful for different builds and play styles.

Upgrade Value

Upgrade rank can improve an item without replacing it. The formula adds a small bonus for each upgrade level. This helps show whether a current piece is still useful. It also helps compare a lower level upgraded item with a new drop. The result can guide upgrade planning and currency spending.

Balanced Results

The Power Index is designed as a planning guide. It combines item level, main stat, secondary stats, and survival value. The rating label gives a simple readiness estimate. It should not replace logs, simulations, or class guides. Use it as a fast engineering style model for gear decisions. Test several gear sets, compare outputs, and choose the strongest path.

FAQs

What does this gear calculator measure?

It measures average item level, gear score, secondary stat value, survival score, and total Power Index using entered gear data.

Can I use it for every class?

Yes. The calculator accepts flexible stats and weights, so it can support every class, role, and build type.

What is slot weight?

Slot weight lets you make one item slot more important than another. Use higher values for stronger or build-defining pieces.

Is the Power Index official?

No. It is a custom planning score. Use it for comparison, not as an official game ranking system.

Why include upgrade rank?

Upgrade rank shows extra value gained from improving an item. It helps compare upgraded gear against new drops.

Does higher item level always win?

No. Better secondary stats or stronger upgrades can sometimes make a lower item level piece more useful.

Can I download my result?

Yes. The form includes CSV and PDF download buttons for saving the calculated gear report.

Should I still use class guides?

Yes. This tool gives a quick model. Class guides, logs, and simulations can provide deeper build advice.
