Bait Station Count Calculator

Plan bait stations for gardens, sheds, and greenhouses. Adjust spacing, perimeter intervals, and risk levels. Get practical counts and safer placements today.

Calculator
Use conservative spacing when children, pets, or wildlife are present.

Total treated surface area.
Edge length needing stations.
Affects typical density needs.
Higher levels increase station counts.
Some sites need tighter coverage.
Mixed areas often require extra coverage.
Used for area-based stations.
Spacing along edges and fences.
Max avoids double-counting; Sum is more aggressive.
Advanced options
Doors, vents, burrows, gaps, drains.
Extra stations near access routes.
Add for compost, feed, drains, nests.
Covers replacements and missed spots.
Ensures baseline monitoring coverage.
Rounding up is safer for coverage.

Example data table
These examples show how spacing, perimeter, and infestation change station needs.

Formula used
This tool combines an area-based estimate and a perimeter-based estimate, then adjusts for conditions.
1) Area estimate
Stationsarea = ceil( Area ÷ Spacing² )
Use a smaller spacing for denser coverage.
2) Perimeter estimate
Stationsperimeter = ceil( Perimeter ÷ Interval )
Useful for fences, walls, hedges, and edges.
3) Adjustments and final count
Factor = Infestation × Property × Placement × Target
Base = max(Stationsarea, Stationsperimeter) × Factor (or Sum, if selected)
Add-ons = (Entry points × Stations per entry) + Hotspots
Buffered = (Base + Add-ons) × (1 + Buffer%)
Final = round up (or nearest), then apply Minimum stations.
How to use this calculator
  1. Measure area and perimeter for the zone you will protect.
  2. Select your target pest and a realistic infestation level.
  3. Choose spacing and perimeter interval based on access and risk.
  4. Add entry points and hotspots like drains, feed, and compost.
  5. Use a buffer if bait is often removed or weathered.
  6. Calculate, then download CSV/PDF for records and planning.
