Example Data Table
These examples show how climate and plant stage affect pot size.
| Plants | Stage | Climate | Shape | Suggested depth | Suggested diameter/side | Volume |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Young | Mild | Round | 25 cm | 18 cm diameter | ~6.4 L |
| 2 | Young | Hot & Dry | Round | 27 cm | 23 cm diameter | ~11.2 L |
| 3 | Mature | Hot & Humid | Square | 31 cm | 28 cm side | ~24.3 L |
Actual results will vary with your selections and constraints.
Formula Used
A practical sizing method using plant stage and container geometry.
- Base volume per plant: Seedling = 2 L, Young = 4 L, Mature = 8 L.
- Combined multiplier: Adjusts for variety, habit, harvest, environment, and climate.
- Total target volume: Vtarget = Vbase × plants × multiplier
- Round pot sizing: V = π × (d/2)² × h
- Square pot sizing: V = side² × h
Sizes are rounded upward to protect airflow, drainage, and root health.
