The K factor represents a long-term average soil erodibility factor under standard unit plot conditions. It is calculated using the widely accepted algebraic approximation of the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) nomograph:

Where M is the textural parameter derived from silt and sand percentages, OM is the organic matter percentage, s is the soil structure code, and p is the permeability class.
