Formula Used
  • Allowance per edge: Effective dimension = base dimension + 2 × (overlap + hem).
  • Rectangle area: A = Leff × Weff.
  • Circle area: A = π × Reff2, where Reff = R + overlap + hem.
  • Ellipse area: A = π × aeff × beff (semi-axes).
  • Adjusted area: Aadj = A × (1 + seam% + waste%).
  • Roll length: Lroll ≈ Aadj ÷ rollWidth.
  • Panels: panels = ceil(Weff ÷ rollWidth).
  • Grommets: count = ceil(perimeter ÷ spacing).
Ellipse perimeter uses a standard approximation for practical estimating.
