Commonly 10–30% depending on model.
Adds electricity for drying heat.
Typical 0.15–0.45 kWh/cycle.
Efficient units can be 8–15 L.
Uses temperature rise for heating energy estimate.
Ground or supply temperature estimate.
Dishwashers often use 49–60°C.
Enter your utility price.
Use grid factor, or keep default.
Many appliances draw 0–5 W standby.
Usually 24 hours unless unplugged.

Gardening note: efficient water heating also supports mindful water use outdoors.
Example Data Table
Sample scenarios to compare typical settings.
Scenario Cycles/week Net kWh/cycle Monthly kWh Monthly cost
Eco on, no heated dry 7 0.980 33.4 6.68
Eco off, heated dry on 10 1.650 72.1 14.42
Light use, compact unit 4 0.820 17.2 3.44
Values are illustrative; your results depend on temperatures and rates.
Formula Used
Transparent math helps you fine-tune inputs.
  • Cycles per year = cycles/week × 52
  • Cycles per month = cycles/year ÷ 12
  • Gross kWh per cycle = machine kWh + heated-dry kWh + water-heating kWh
  • Eco adjustment: net kWh/cycle = gross kWh/cycle × (1 − eco%/100)
  • Water heating: kWh = (liters × 4186 × ΔT) ÷ 3,600,000
  • Standby: kWh/day = (watts × hours/day) ÷ 1000
  • Total monthly = (net kWh/cycle × cycles/month) + standby/month
  • Cost = total kWh × electric rate
  • Emissions = total kWh × CO₂ factor
How to Use This Calculator
Follow these steps for realistic estimates.
  1. Enter your average dishwasher cycles per week.
  2. Use your label’s kWh per cycle when available.
  3. Switch eco mode on if you use it regularly.
  4. Enable heated dry only if you actually select it.
  5. Set water liters and temperatures for your household.
  6. Add your electricity rate and emissions factor if known.
  7. Click Estimate Energy to see monthly and yearly totals.
  8. Use CSV or PDF export to save results for planning.
Tip: Reducing heated drying can save energy for outdoor tools.
