Formula Used

Total fraction = sand + silt + clay.

Normalized sand = sand ÷ total fraction × 100. The same method is used for silt and clay.

Texture class is selected by comparing normalized sand, silt, and clay percentages with USDA style texture triangle ranges.

Fine earth water index = sand × 0.20 + silt × 0.55 + clay × 0.80. It is a planning score, not a lab replacement.
