Total run around beds, patio edges, or yard boundary.
Smaller spacing increases coverage and cost.
Use outer corners for corner-aware spacing.
Useful for irregular gardens or many turns.
Adds stations for risk zones and replacements.
Use for lawns or broad garden interiors.
Area you want covered inside the perimeter.
Used for interior grid station density.

Example data table

Sample inputs and outputs to validate your setup.

Scenario Perimeter Spacing Corners Interior Area Grid Extra Total Stations Annual Refill Cartridges
Small patio edge 60 m 3 m 4 0 m² 6 m 10% 22 44
Medium lawn with interior 120 m 4 m 6 300 m² 6 m 15% 49 98
Large boundary, wider spacing 500 ft 15 ft 8 2000 ft² 25 ft 10% 41 82

Outputs will vary with corner-aware mode, allowance, and refill rate.

Formula used

  • Simple perimeter method: Perimeter Stations = ceil( Perimeter ÷ Spacing ).
  • Corner-aware method: Segment = Perimeter ÷ Corners, then Perimeter Stations = Corners × ceil( Segment ÷ Spacing ).
  • Interior grid: Interior Stations = ceil( Area ÷ (Grid Spacing²) ).
  • Allowance: Total Stations = ceil( (Perimeter Stations + Interior Stations) × (1 + Extra%/100) ).
  • Cartridges: Initial = Total Stations, Annual Refill = ceil( Total Stations × Refill Rate ).
  • Costs: Initial Cost = Stations×Station Cost + Initial Cartridges×Cartridge Cost; Refill Cost = Annual Refill Cartridges×Cartridge Cost.

How to use this calculator

  1. Measure the perimeter you want protected around the garden.
  2. Choose spacing based on risk, moisture, and shade.
  3. Enter corners if your layout has many turns.
  4. Enable interior coverage for large open lawns or beds.
  5. Add allowance for hotspots, damaged stations, or expansions.
  6. Set refill rate based on monitoring intervals and activity.
  7. Press Calculate and review totals, refills, and costs.
  8. Use CSV or PDF exports for crews and budgeting.
