Walk-in Closet Planner Calculator

Design a closet for boots and tools. Balance storage zones, reach, and airflow in minutes. Print plans, cut lists, and keep everything tidy daily.

Planner Inputs

Choose the unit system you measure with.
Door section is removed from usable wall length.
Comfortable walking, turning, and carrying baskets.
Deeper shelves store bulky garden items, but shrink aisles.
Garden aprons and coats work well with double hang.
Corner units reclaim space and improve efficiency.
Islands help sorting gloves, seed packets, and labels.
Rows of labeled bins for seeds, ties, and spare parts.
Small drawers reduce clutter for clips and fasteners.
Tool-heavy plans assume stronger supports and lower loads.
Adds buffer for cuts, knots, and mistakes.
After submit, your results appear above this form.

Example Data Table

Scenario Length Width Height Shelf Depth Aisle Island Estimated Garments Shelf Area
Mixed garden gear 10 ft 7 ft 9 ft 1.25 ft 3 ft No ~80 ~95 ft²
Tool-heavy storage 12 ft 8 ft 9 ft 1.5 ft 3 ft Yes (4×2) ~75 ~110 ft²
Mostly clothing 9 ft 6 ft 8 ft 1.0 ft 2.5 ft No ~70 ~75 ft²
Examples are illustrative; your results depend on door width, corners, and layout choices.

Formulas Used

  • Perimeter = 2 × (Length + Width)
  • Usable Wall Length = Perimeter − Door Width
  • Effective Wall Length = Usable Wall × Corner Efficiency (0.85–0.92)
  • Rod Length = Effective Wall × Rod Fraction (layout-based)
  • Garment Capacity = floor((Rod Length ÷ Garment Pitch) × Hang Levels)
  • Shelf Area = Shelf Length × Shelf Depth × Shelf Tiers × Load Factor
  • Panel Area = Shelf Area × (1 + Waste% ÷ 100)
  • Bin Volume = Bins × (Bin Width × Shelf Depth × Bin Height) × Load Factor
This planner uses practical assumptions to create a cut-list style estimate.
