Step 1 Convert all inputs to consistent units.
Step 2 Effective irrigation (L) = Irrigation applied (L) × (Efficiency ÷ 100)
Step 3 Rain volume (L) = Rain depth (mm) × Area (m²)
Step 4 Total effective water (L) = (Effective irrigation + Rain volume) × (1 − Losses ÷ 100)
Step 5 WUE (kg/m³) = Yield (kg) ÷ [Total effective water (L) ÷ 1000]
Step 6 Water footprint (L/kg) = Total effective water (L) ÷ Yield (kg)

Notes: 1 mm over 1 m² equals 1 liter. If you use inches, the calculator applies 25.4 mm per inch.
