Common Preset Guide

For a long trip, choose the mainline plazas that match your route. Add ramps only when you enter or exit there.

For a short local trip, select the ramp pair or plaza closest to your start and end points.

Example Data Table

Example Vehicle Payment Selected toll points Estimated one way toll
Airport area trip 2 axles and Class A Tag Airport Mainline Plaza, Bluebonnet Plaza $9.42
Trailer route 2 axles and Class B Mail SH21 Ramp, Skyline Plaza $12.02
Truck estimate 5 axles and Class D Tag Mustang Creek Mainline Plaza, SH80 Ramp $25.47

Formula Used

Selected toll total = sum of every selected plaza and ramp charge.

Adjusted one way toll = selected toll total × (1 + rate adjustment percent ÷ 100).

Trip toll before discount = adjusted one way toll × trip multiplier.

Discount amount = trip toll before discount × discount percent ÷ 100.

Fuel cost = trip miles ÷ miles per gallon × fuel price per gallon.

Final cost = toll after discount + fuel cost + extra fees.

Advanced Planning Guide

Why Estimate SH 130 Costs

State Highway 130 is a long toll route in Central Texas. It helps drivers move around the busiest parts of Austin. A good estimate is useful before a commute, delivery, vacation, or fleet movement.

How The Calculator Works

This calculator is built for detailed planning. It lets you select northern Segment 1 to 4 toll points. It also lets you select southern Segment 5 to 6 toll points. Those parts use different vehicle rules. The northern part uses axle based rates. The southern part uses shape based classes. That difference matters when a trailer, truck body, or special permit vehicle is involved.

Cost Factors

The tool adds each selected plaza or ramp. It then applies your payment choice. Tag users usually pay less than drivers billed by mail. The form can also handle a round trip. It can add fuel cost, extra fees, and a custom adjustment. That makes it useful for budget work, route quotes, and client invoices.

Fuel And Route Checks

Fuel cost is separate from toll cost. Enter the miles, vehicle economy, and fuel price. The calculator multiplies gallons by price. It then joins that amount with tolls and fees. You can compare toll only cost with total trip cost.

Accuracy Notes

Use the selection lists carefully. Pick only the plazas or ramps you expect to cross. A navigation app or official toll map can help. If your route changes, run the estimate again. Do not treat the result as a final bill. Toll agencies may apply fees, delayed posting, plate matching, or account rules.

Export Options

The export tools help keep records. CSV is useful for spreadsheets. PDF is useful for saved estimates. Both downloads use the result shown on the page. Update rates when an agency changes them. That keeps the calculator useful over time.

Business Use

For businesses, the page can support repeated estimates. Dispatchers can compare payment types. Drivers can check fuel impact. Owners can see how trailers affect costs. The result is simple, but the options are detailed. That balance makes trip planning faster and clearer.

Forecasting

Advanced users can also test planned price changes. Enter a rate adjustment percent before submitting. This helps forecast future budgets or contract charges. Keep notes about the rate date. Store the PDF with invoices, mileage logs, or trip approvals for clearer records.

FAQs

Does this calculator give an official bill?

No. It gives an estimate based on stored toll rates and your selections. Your real bill can change because of account rules, plate reading, fees, missed tolls, or agency updates.

What is the difference between tag and mail payment?

Tag payment uses an accepted electronic toll account. Mail payment bills the registered vehicle owner. Mail rates are often higher, and invoices may include added fees.

Why are Segments 1-4 and Segments 5-6 separated?

They use different rate structures and operators. The northern section uses axle based rates. The southern section uses vehicle shape classes, including trailer and special permit categories.

Can I calculate a round trip?

Yes. Select round trip in the form. The calculator doubles the selected tolls and fuel miles before showing the final estimated cost.

How should I choose toll points?

Select the plazas and ramps you expect to pass. A route map or navigation app can help. Do not select every point unless your route actually crosses each one.

What does rate adjustment mean?

It lets you test price changes. Enter a positive percent to raise the toll estimate. Enter a negative percent to model a reduction.

Why is fuel included?

Fuel helps show the full trip cost, not just tolls. Enter one way miles, miles per gallon, and fuel price. The round trip option doubles miles automatically.

Can I update the rates later?

Yes. Edit the rate arrays at the top of the file. Replace old plaza values with new agency rates. The form and exports will use the updated numbers.
