Example Data Table
These examples show common planning patterns. Replace base times with your creature values for better accuracy.
| Creature | Base Mature Hours | Mature Speed | Cuddle Multiplier | Care Interval | Planning Goal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rex | 92.60 | 10 | 0.20 | 1h 36m | Many short windows |
| Argentavis | 46.30 | 8 | 0.25 | 2h 0m | Moderate weekend breeding |
| Wyvern | 92.60 | 15 | 0.18 | 1h 26m | Fast cluster raising |
| Dodo | 15.42 | 20 | 0.10 | 48m | Small creature testing |
Formula Used
Actual mature time = Base mature hours ÷ Baby mature speed multiplier.
Actual care interval = Base cuddle interval × Baby cuddle interval multiplier.
Care windows = floor(Actual mature time ÷ Actual care interval).
Vanilla imprint per care = 100 ÷ Care windows.
Actual imprint per care = Vanilla imprint per care × Baby imprint amount multiplier.
Possible imprint = Care windows × Actual imprint per care, capped at 100%.
The calculator also estimates remaining time, actions needed, recommended interval multipliers, and current-progress reachability.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the creature name and base maturation time.
- Keep the base cuddle interval at 8 hours unless your setup differs.
- Add your mature speed, cuddle interval, and imprint amount settings.
- Set the current baby age and imprint percent for live planning.
- Choose your target imprint and preferred number of care actions.
- Press the calculate button to view results above the form.
- Copy the suggested setting lines into your server configuration after testing.

ARK Imprint Settings Guide
Why Imprint Settings Matter
Imprinting can make breeding feel fair or frustrating. The best setup gives players enough care windows before a baby matures. Fast maturation is useful, but it can remove imprint chances. This calculator compares those two forces. It helps you see whether full imprint is possible before players start raising creatures.
Balancing Speed and Care
The mature speed multiplier shortens the total baby stage. The cuddle interval multiplier controls how often care appears. When maturity is very fast, the interval must usually be lower. A small change can create several extra care windows. That is why admins should test each creature group before final server changes.
Using the Imprint Amount Multiplier
The imprint amount multiplier increases the percent gained from each successful care action. It is helpful when you want fewer interactions. It also protects players who cannot log in every few minutes. Use it carefully. Too high a value can make every creature reach full imprint after only one care.
Planning With Buffers
Real servers have lag, restarts, travel time, and player delays. A perfect mathematical interval can still fail during normal play. The buffer setting makes the recommended interval slightly shorter. This gives breeders extra time before maturity. It is especially useful on busy clusters and event weekends.
Better Admin Workflow
Start with one creature that represents your breeding style. Calculate the result. Then test a small creature and a large creature. Compare care windows, imprint gain, and total time. Save the CSV or PDF for your records. Share the plan with moderators before editing live settings. This reduces complaints and makes breeding rules easier to explain.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does the cuddle interval multiplier control?
It changes how often imprint care appears. A lower value creates shorter waiting times and more chances before maturity.
2. Why does faster maturation reduce imprint chances?
Faster maturation shortens the total baby phase. If the care interval stays long, fewer care windows fit before maturity.
3. Can this calculator guarantee exact in-game results?
No. It gives planning estimates. Server lag, restarts, mods, creature differences, and game updates can affect live results.
4. What is a good safety buffer?
Five percent is a practical starting point. Use more buffer for busy servers, event rates, or players with limited login time.
5. Should I increase imprint amount multiplier?
Increase it when you want fewer care actions. Keep it moderate if you still want breeding to require player attention.
6. Why are my care windows zero?
Your care interval is longer than the actual mature time. Lower the interval multiplier or reduce the mature speed multiplier.
7. What base cuddle interval should I use?
Eight hours is a common default value. Change it only if your server, mod, or ruleset uses a different base interval.
8. Can I use this for modded creatures?
Yes. Enter the modded creature base mature time. The calculator will apply your chosen multipliers to that value.
