Formula used

Total calories = (base + protein + beans + rice + sauce + dressing + toppings + extras + drink + dessert + custom adjustment) × serving multiplier.

Total macros use the same addition method. Protein and carbs are estimated at 4 calories per gram. Fat is estimated at 9 calories per gram.

Target share = total meal calories ÷ daily calorie target × 100. Sodium is added by line item and adjusted by the serving multiplier.

Cafe Rio Calorie Planning Guide

A Cafe Rio style meal can change fast. One tortilla, scoop, sauce, or dressing can move the total by hundreds of calories. This calculator helps you test those choices before you order. It is useful for bowls, salads, burritos, tacos, nachos, enchiladas, sides, drinks, and desserts. The tool also estimates protein, carbs, fat, and sodium. These extra numbers help you compare meals beyond calories alone.

Build meals with clear choices

Start with the meal type. Then choose the base, protein, beans, rice, sauce, dressing, toppings, and extras. Use the serving multiplier when you split a meal or save half for later. Use the custom adjustment field when a portion is larger, smaller, or replaced with a special item. The calculator keeps the method transparent. Every line item adds to the total. Nothing is hidden.

Plan lighter orders

For weight control, the best approach is usually simple. Keep the protein portion clear. Pick one main starch. Add vegetables for volume. Use creamy sauce, queso, guacamole, chips, and dessert with care. These items can fit a plan, but they should be measured. If you want a lighter meal, choose a bowl or salad without a fried shell. Use a small amount of dressing. Add salsa for flavor. Skip sweet drinks when calories are tight.

Plan higher energy meals

For higher energy needs, the same calculator works well. Add rice, beans, tortilla, cheese, and extra protein. This can support active days and training goals. The macro estimate shows whether the meal is balanced. Protein supports fullness. Carbs support activity. Fat adds flavor and staying power. Sodium can rise quickly too, especially with sauces and chips. Review that line when planning dinner and lunch choices.

Use estimates wisely

The numbers are estimates. Restaurant portions can vary by worker, location, and request. Recipes can also change. Use the result as a planning guide, not a medical label. For strict medical diets, allergies, pregnancy, kidney disease, diabetes, or sodium limits, confirm details with the restaurant and a qualified professional.

Save meal records

The download buttons help you keep records. Save the CSV for spreadsheets. Save the PDF for meal logs or client notes. The example table below shows how different choices can produce very different totals. Use it to teach portion changes and compare common orders for each week.

FAQs

1. Is this calculator an official Cafe Rio nutrition tool?

No. It is a planning calculator using editable estimate values. Always confirm official nutrition details with the restaurant when accuracy is critical.

2. Can I use it for bowls, salads, and burritos?

Yes. Choose the meal type, then select the base and ingredients. The calculator adds each item and adjusts the total by serving size.

3. Why are my calories different from a menu label?

Restaurant portions, recipes, and toppings can vary. A menu label may also use a standard build, while your order may include extra items.

4. How do I calculate half a meal?

Enter 0.5 in the serving multiplier field. The calculator will cut calories, macros, and sodium in half for the selected meal.

5. How do I add a custom ingredient?

Use the custom fields. Enter a label, calories, protein, carbs, fat, and sodium. Negative calories can remove an estimated item.

6. Does the PDF button need an external library?

No. This file creates a simple PDF directly. It lists totals and the selected item breakdown for quick records.

7. Are macros included in the result?

Yes. The result shows protein, carbs, fat, and macro calorie estimates. It also shows sodium and daily target share.

8. Can I edit the calorie values?
