Formula Used
The calculator uses the invariant spacetime interval between two events. With the time-positive convention, the formula is:
s² = c²Δt² − Δx² − Δy² − Δz²
Here, c is the speed of light. The value Δt is the time difference.
The values Δx, Δy, and Δz are spatial coordinate differences.
If s² > 0, the interval is time-like. If s² < 0, the interval is space-like.
If s² ≈ 0, the interval is light-like.
The alternate space-positive convention reverses the sign. It does not change the physical classification.
