Formula Used

Weld length from CADWorx pipe diameter:

Length = π × outside diameter

Groove weld area:

Root area = root gap × wall thickness

Bevel area = bevel faces × 0.5 × effective depth² × tan(bevel angle)

Cap area = cap width × reinforcement height × 0.67

Groove area = root area + bevel area + cap area

Fillet weld area:

Fillet area = 0.5 × leg A × leg B + 0.67 × convexity × larger leg

Total weld volume:

Total volume = cross sectional area × weld length × quantity

Weld metal mass:

Mass kg = volume cm³ × density g/cm³ ÷ 1000

Filler required:

Filler kg = mass ÷ efficiency × waste factor × contingency factor
