Advanced Catch Planning
A Gen 4 catch attempt feels simple during play. Behind that moment, several values combine. This calculator turns those values into a clear estimate. It helps compare balls, health, status, and repeated throws before you spend resources.
Why Health Matters
Lower current health improves the modified catch value. The tool uses maximum health and current health together. It rewards careful weakening without assuming impossible health states. One remaining hit point usually gives the best legal result.
Ball and Status Choices
Ball bonus can change the estimate strongly. Ultra, Dusk, Quick, and Timer options are included. A custom value is also available for special cases. Status also matters. Sleep and freeze give the largest listed bonus. Paralysis, burn, and poison give a smaller bonus.
Shake Checks
The first score estimates the modified catch number. Then the shake value is calculated. Four successful shake checks create a capture. The displayed single throw chance comes from those four checks. The planned throw chance shows the chance after several independent attempts.
Better Decisions
Use the table to compare common situations. Try the same target with different balls. Then adjust health and status. The expected captures field helps when planning many encounters. It is useful for route hunts, legendary resets, and resource management.
Practical Limits
This is a planning model. It does not guarantee a result. Random checks can still surprise you. Some special encounters may use unique rules. Enter the closest known values for best results. Export the report when you need a saved record or want to compare several attempts later.
Reading the Output
The result panel shows the chosen inputs first. This makes checking mistakes easy. The modified catch value explains whether the target is near automatic capture. The shake threshold shows how hard each shake check is. Higher values are better. The chance over planned throws assumes the same setup continues. Change the turn count when using Timer Ball.
Export Workflow
Use CSV for spreadsheets. Use PDF for quick sharing. Both exports include inputs, formulas, and core results. Keep one report per target. Then compare strategies before your next attempt.
For rare targets, small improvements matter. A status move or stronger ball may save many resets and items.
