Formula Used

The calculator uses a common liquid chlorine dosing rule. One gallon of 10% liquid chlorine raises 10,000 gallons of water by about 10 ppm.

Needed FC rise = Target FC - Current FC

Adjusted FC rise = Needed FC rise × (1 + Loss allowance ÷ 100)

Bleach gallons = Pool gallons × Adjusted FC rise ÷ (Bleach strength % × 10,000)

Shape volume is also estimated when selected.

Rectangular volume = length × width × average depth.

Round volume = π × radius² × average depth.

Oval volume = π × half length × half width × average depth.
