Formula Used
Investment: Investment = Adaptability × 3 + Attunement
Normal scaling: Agility = Investment ÷ 4 + 80, when Investment is 120 or lower.
High scaling: Agility = (Investment - 120) ÷ 28 + 110, when Investment is above 120.
Roll iFrames: The calculator checks the final Agility against known breakpoints, including 96, 99, 105, 111, 114, and 116.
Backstep iFrames: Backstep frames use their own thresholds, including 87, 91, 100, 108, and 113.

Adaptability Planning Guide
Understanding Adaptability
Adaptability is one of the most debated stats in Dark Souls 2. It matters because it raises Agility. Agility changes how safe your roll feels. It also affects item use speed. A new player may level damage first. That can work. Yet low Agility often makes dodges feel late, harsh, or unfair.
Why Agility Matters
The calculator converts Adaptability and Attunement into estimated Agility. Adaptability has the stronger effect. Attunement also helps, but at a lower rate. This is useful for casters. A sorcerer may gain spell slots and a little Agility together. A melee build usually reaches targets faster through Adaptability.
Picking A Target
Most builds should not chase the highest number first. A modest breakpoint can save many levels. Ninety-six Agility gives a useful roll target. Ninety-nine is a common comfort point. One hundred five is a strong endgame goal for players who dodge often. Higher targets can help, but the cost rises quickly.
Using The Results
Enter your current Adaptability and Attunement. Choose a target that fits your build. Add spare levels if you want a budget check. The result shows current Agility, roll frames, backstep frames, and extra points needed. The table compares common targets. The chart shows how your setup grows as Adaptability rises.
Planning Better Builds
This tool is best used before spending souls. It helps you avoid wasted levels. A caster can test whether Attunement already covers part of the target. A melee character can see the direct Adaptability path. You can export the result as CSV or PDF. Keep that record while planning respecs, challenge runs, or new characters.
Reading The Breakpoints
Breakpoints are more helpful than raw scaling. A single point may do nothing until the next frame tier appears. That is why the calculator highlights the next useful target. It avoids blind leveling. It also separates roll frames from backstep frames. Both actions scale with Agility, but their thresholds differ.
Practical Advice
Use lower targets for shield builds, heavy armor, or cautious play. Use higher targets for aggressive boss dodging and PvP practice. Recheck the numbers after changing Attunement. Small adjustments can change feel without changing total style.
FAQs
1. What does Adaptability do in Dark Souls 2?
Adaptability mainly helps raise Agility. Higher Agility improves dodge invulnerability frames and item use speed. It can make rolls feel safer, especially during boss attacks and tight recovery windows.
2. Does Attunement also affect Agility?
Yes. Attunement contributes to Agility, but Adaptability contributes more strongly. Casters may gain some Agility naturally while raising Attunement for spell slots and casting support.
3. What is a good Agility target?
Many players aim for 96, 99, or 105 Agility. Lower targets save levels. Higher targets feel smoother but cost more points. The best choice depends on build style.
4. Does equipment load change this calculation?
This calculator focuses on Agility breakpoints. Equipment load can affect roll distance and feel, but it is not part of the Adaptability and Attunement Agility formula used here.
5. Why is 105 Agility popular?
One hundred five Agility gives a strong roll frame target. It is a common endgame comfort point for players who dodge often and want reliable invulnerability timing.
6. Should casters level Adaptability?
Casters can use Attunement to gain some Agility. Still, Adaptability may be needed if you want a specific dodge breakpoint without spending too many extra Attunement levels.
7. What does the CSV download include?
The CSV download includes your input stats, Agility result, roll frames, backstep frames, target details, and level planning notes. It is useful for saving build comparisons.
8. Is this calculator exact for every situation?
It is a planning calculator based on known Agility formulas and breakpoints. In-game feel can still vary by timing, animation, enemy attack shape, and player habits.
