Calculator Inputs
Enter your hero, weapon, critical, bonus, uptime, and area damage values. Then calculate sustained and burst damage estimates.
Example Data Table
| Input | Example Value | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon damage | 2100 to 2800 | Base weapon damage range |
| Weapon speed | 1.40 APS | Base attacks per second |
| Main stat | 12000 | Class damage scaling stat |
| Critical stats | 50% chance and 450% damage | Expected critical hit power |
| Skill coefficient | 300% | Skill damage percent per hit |
Formula Used
Average base damage = ((weapon minimum + weapon maximum) / 2) + ((flat minimum + flat maximum) / 2).
Effective APS = weapon APS × (1 + attack speed bonus / 100). Main stat multiplier = 1 + main stat / 100.
Critical multiplier = 1 + (critical chance / 100 × critical damage / 100). Additive multiplier = 1 + total additive bonuses / 100.
Sustained DPS = average base damage × effective APS × skill coefficient × main stat multiplier × critical multiplier × additive multiplier × multiplicative effects × uptime effects.
Area DPS estimate = single target DPS × extra targets × area chance × area damage × area efficiency.

Diablo 3 DPS Guide
What the Calculator Measures
Damage per second is more than weapon damage. A hero also gains power from main stat, attack speed, critical hits, elemental bonuses, skill bonuses, elite damage, and timed buffs. This calculator combines those inputs into a clear estimate. It helps compare gear pieces before changing a build.
Why Inputs Matter
Weapon damage sets the starting point. Attack speed decides how often that damage is delivered. Main stat increases class damage directly. Critical chance and critical damage create the expected critical multiplier. Additive bonuses can include elemental damage, skill damage, elite damage, and general damage increases. Multiplicative effects are entered separately because they usually scale the final result.
Using Uptime
Many Diablo 3 builds depend on temporary skills. Some buffs are always active. Others last only during a cooldown window. This calculator includes uptime fields for temporary damage and cooldown damage. A fifty percent uptime means the bonus is counted for half of the sustained fight. This gives a practical average instead of a perfect burst number.
Area Damage Estimate
Real combat often includes many targets. Area damage can raise total damage when monsters stand close together. The calculator uses target count, area chance, area damage, and efficiency. Efficiency lets you reduce the estimate when enemies are spread out. This keeps the result more realistic during normal rifts, bounties, and greater rift pushes.
Reading the Output
The result shows average weapon damage, effective attacks per second, damage per hit, single target DPS, area damage estimate, total sustained DPS, and burst DPS. It also lists every major multiplier. These values make weak points easier to spot. You may find that more critical damage helps. You may also discover that attack speed or skill damage gives better value.
Best Use
Use this page for planning and comparison. Enter the current setup first. Then change one item at a time. Compare the exported reports. The calculator is an estimate, not a combat log. Game mechanics, animation breaks, resource limits, enemy armor, and build rotations can change real results. Still, the tool gives a strong baseline for smarter gear choices. Always test final changes in play, because comfort, toughness, and resource flow also affect performance during fights.
FAQs
What does DPS mean in Diablo 3?
DPS means damage per second. It estimates how much damage a hero can deal over time with current gear, stats, buffs, and skill settings.
Is this calculator exact?
No. It gives a strong estimate. Real results can change because of animation timing, monster position, resource limits, cooldown gaps, and build rotation.
What is main stat?
Main stat is Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence. It depends on class. It increases damage and is one of the largest DPS factors.
How does critical damage affect DPS?
Critical damage increases the power of critical hits. It works with critical chance to create an expected critical multiplier.
What is skill coefficient?
Skill coefficient is the listed skill damage percent. A 300% skill coefficient means one hit deals three times the adjusted base damage.
What does uptime mean?
Uptime means how often a temporary bonus is active. A 60% uptime means the calculator applies that bonus for 60% of sustained combat.
Why include area damage?
Area damage can increase total output against groups. It depends on target count, area chance, area damage value, and enemy positioning.
Can I export my result?
Yes. After calculation, use the CSV or PDF button to save the main values, multipliers, and damage estimates.
