Diablo 3 Gem Combine Calculator

Calculator

Formula Used

The calculator uses tier distance and the combine ratio. The main formula is: required source gems = target quantity × ratio ^ tier difference. Total combines are calculated by adding every stage craft. For a normal three to one upgrade, the total combines are: target quantity × (3 ^ tier difference - 1) / 2.

Gold cost equals total combine actions multiplied by the effective fee. Effective fee equals fee per combine after the discount percent. Shortage equals required source gems minus owned source gems. Possible target gems equal owned source gems divided by the full source requirement.

Understanding the Diablo 3 Gem Combine Calculator

This calculator helps players plan gem upgrades before visiting the jeweler. It turns a target gem goal into clear crafting needs. You can select a gem type, a starting tier, and a desired tier. Then enter how many finished gems you want. The tool estimates the base gems, combine actions, shortage, leftover stock, and total fee.

Why Gem Planning Matters

Gem upgrades look simple at first. Three lower gems usually create one higher gem. The cost grows very quickly across many tiers. A small target can need hundreds or thousands of base gems. Planning avoids wasted farming time. It also shows whether your current inventory is enough.

Advanced Options

The form includes owned gems, current gold, combine ratio, fee per combine, and discount. The ratio defaults to three, which matches the common upgrade pattern. The discount field helps you test events, house rules, or private server changes. The fee field lets you model any tier cost. This keeps the calculator useful for many planning styles.

Reading the Results

The summary shows the total source gems required. It also shows how many combine clicks are needed. The shortage tells you how many extra source gems to collect. The leftover value helps you judge spare inventory. Gold status compares your available gold with the estimated cost.

Stage Breakdown

The stage table explains each tier jump. It lists the source tier, next tier, crafts needed, inputs consumed, outputs made, and fee. This makes the calculation easy to audit. It is also helpful when you are combining gems in batches.

Best Use Cases

Use this calculator before large gear upgrades. It works well when preparing legendary gems, socketed armor, or multiple character builds. It is also useful for comparing farming goals. You can change the target quantity and instantly see how the requirement grows.

Exporting Results

CSV export is useful for spreadsheets. PDF export is useful for saving or sharing a quick plan. Both exports use the same submitted values. Run the calculation first, then choose the download option. Keep one copy of your result beside the game window. Update owned gems after each crafting session. Repeat the calculation whenever goal or inventory changes during seasonal play.
