Formula Used
The calculator estimates attack rating with this model:
upgraded base damage equals base damage multiplied by upgrade multiplier and infusion multiplier.
Scaling bonus equals upgraded base damage multiplied by scaling coefficient, stat curve, and damage weight.
Total AR equals physical AR plus magic AR plus fire AR plus lightning AR plus dark AR plus flat buff AR.
Motion adjusted power equals total AR multiplied by motion value.
Estimated post absorption power equals motion adjusted power multiplied by one minus enemy absorption.
How to Use This Calculator

About This DS3 Weapon AR Calculator
The DS3 Weapon AR Calculator helps plan Dark Souls 3 builds. It estimates total attack rating before you test a weapon in game. The tool accepts base damage, scaling grades, upgrade level, infusion style, buffs, and player stats. It then separates physical, magic, fire, lightning, and dark attack values.
Why Attack Rating Matters
Attack rating is not final damage. It is the weapon power shown before enemy defense, absorption, motion values, counter hits, and special rules. Still, AR is useful. It lets players compare weapons, infusions, and stat investments quickly. A higher value can show better scaling. A lower value can still win if the moveset is faster.
How Scaling Is Estimated
This calculator uses a practical scaling model. Each letter grade receives a coefficient. S has the highest weight. E has the lowest weight. Stat influence rises toward the soft cap. Gains slow after that point. Two handing can raise effective Strength. Luck support is included for Hollow style setups.
Using Results Well
Treat the output as a build planning guide. It is not a save editor. It does not replace in game testing. Dark Souls 3 weapons can have hidden modifiers. Some attacks use different motion values. Elemental split damage also meets defense more than once. Because of that, two weapons with similar AR can perform differently.
Best Planning Workflow
Enter a known weapon first. Match its base damages and scaling grades. Choose the upgrade multiplier. Add your character stats. Then test several infusions. Watch both total AR and estimated post absorption power. Finally, export the result. CSV is useful for spreadsheets. PDF is useful for sharing build notes.
Practical Build Advice
Quality builds often balance Strength and Dexterity. Heavy weapons favor Strength. Sharp weapons favor Dexterity. Crystal weapons reward Intelligence. Lightning weapons reward Faith. Dark and Chaos options can suit mixed caster builds. Buffs are strongest on weapons with fast hits. Check stamina needs too. Good AR matters more when the build can still roll, block, and punish cleanly.
Limits to Remember
Exact game values can vary by weapon class, attack type, and upgrade path. Use this estimate for quick comparisons, then confirm important choices inside your own character menu later.
FAQs
What does AR mean in DS3?
AR means attack rating. It is the displayed weapon power before many combat modifiers. It helps compare weapons, scaling, and infusions.
Is this final damage?
No. Final damage depends on enemy defense, absorption, motion values, attack type, counter hits, and other hidden game rules.
Why include motion value?
Different attacks use different motion values. A charged heavy attack often uses a stronger multiplier than a quick light attack.
What does two handing change?
Two handing raises effective Strength by fifty percent. This can improve Strength scaling and help meet weapon requirements.
Can I compare infusions?
Yes. Change the infusion multiplier, base damage, and scaling grades. Then compare total AR and estimated post absorption power.
Why is split damage included?
Many weapons use more than one damage type. Magic, fire, lightning, and dark values help model infused or special weapons.
Does Luck scaling matter?
Luck can matter for Hollow style builds and specific weapons. Use the Luck grade when the weapon supports that setup.
Can I export results?
Yes. Use the CSV button for spreadsheet work. Use the PDF button for a simple printable build summary.
