Fence Post Hole Concrete Calculator

Plan your fence like a pro: set segments, spacing, and gates; choose cylinder or belled holes; apply frost-depth rules; get per‑post volumes, bag counts, costs, and pallets; visualize layout; compare ready‑mix; export CSV/PDF; and share a saved link for fast, accurate, contractor‑ready field use. Includes over‑dig, waste buffers, metric units, JSON‑LD, presets, and charts.

All inputs auto-convert.

Spacing auto-adjusts to avoid a short tail.
Angles join consecutively (plan view). First angle is from east, others are turn angles.
Place by chainage (distance along fence). Calculator adds posts at gate edges and removes interior line-posts inside the opening.

Volume formulas

Cylinder: V = π × (D/2)² × H

Bell (cone frustum): V = π × h × (D² + d² + D×d) / 12

We subtract gravel base height and add collar height to the concrete height. Over-dig and waste multipliers apply to the final volume before bag rounding.

Rules
  • Embed depth = max( (embed % × fence height), frost depth )
  • Depth is measured from grade; gravel base replaces equal height of concrete
  • Gates place posts at opening edges and remove line posts inside the span
