Formula Used

HP DV:

HP DV = Attack parity × 8 + Defense parity × 4 + Speed parity × 2 + Special parity

HP Stat:

HP = floor(((((Base + HP DV) × 2) + StatExpBonus) × Level) / 100) + Level + 10

Other Stats:

Stat = floor(((((Base + DV) × 2) + StatExpBonus) × Level) / 100) + 5

Stat Experience Bonus:

StatExpBonus = floor(floor(square root of Stat Exp) / 4)

Understanding Gen 1 DV Planning

Why DVs Matter

Generation 1 uses hidden values to shape final stats. These values are called DVs. They are small numbers, yet they matter a lot. A strong DV spread can create better damage, better bulk, and better speed control. The difference is most visible at high levels. It also matters when two similar monsters face each other. A single point can decide an important battle.

What Makes This Tool Advanced

This calculator handles both planning and checking. You can enter known DVs and calculate final stats. You can also enter observed stats and find possible DV values. This is useful when you caught a monster and want to judge its hidden strength. It also supports Stat Experience. That makes the result more realistic. Fresh catches, trained monsters, and fully trained monsters can all be reviewed.

HP DV Is Different

HP DV is not typed directly in the original system. It is built from the odd or even state of Attack, Defense, Speed, and Special DVs. Odd Attack adds eight points. Odd Defense adds four points. Odd Speed adds two points. Odd Special adds one point. This design makes HP linked to the other four hidden values.

Better Results Need Better Inputs

DV estimates can be wide at low levels. This happens because several DVs may produce the same visible stat. Higher levels usually narrow the range. Known Stat Experience also improves accuracy. If your result shows many possible DVs, test another level. You can also compare after more training. Use the report as a guide, not as a guess. Keep records through the CSV and PDF exports. They help you compare catches easily.

FAQs

What is a Gen 1 DV?

A DV is a hidden value that affects a Generation 1 monster stat. Attack, Defense, Speed, and Special each use values from 0 to 15.

Why is HP DV not entered directly?

HP DV is derived from the parity of the other four DVs. Odd values add points. Even values add nothing.

Can this calculator estimate unknown DVs?

Yes. Enter observed stats, level, base stats, and Stat Experience. The tool searches possible matching DVs from 0 to 15.

Why do I see several possible DVs?

Low levels often hide DV differences. More than one DV can create the same visible stat. Higher levels usually reduce the range.

What is Stat Experience?

Stat Experience is old training growth. It improves final stats and can change DV estimates if entered incorrectly.

Should I enter zero Stat Experience?

Use zero for a fresh, untrained monster. Use known values for trained monsters. Wrong values can produce wrong DV ranges.

What does DV quality mean?

DV quality compares the entered five-stat DV total against 75. HP DV is included after it is derived from the other values.

Can I save the calculation?

Yes. Use the CSV button for spreadsheet records. Use the PDF button for a simple printable report.
