Hidden Power in Generation Two
Hidden Power is a small move with deep planning value. In Generation Two, it depends on DVs. These values range from zero to fifteen. They shape stats, shiny odds, gender limits, and this move. Because of that, one DV spread can change several goals at once.
Why DVs Matter
The calculator focuses on Attack, Defense, Speed, and Special. HP DV is derived from those four values. Hidden Power type uses only Attack and Defense remainders. Power uses the high bit of Attack, Defense, Speed, and Special. It also uses the Special remainder after division by four. This makes small DV changes important.
Reading the Result
The result shows the move type first. It also shows base power. Gen Two base power can range from thirty one to seventy. A higher number is usually better, yet type matters more for coverage. A lower power Ice move may still help a team. It can hit Dragon, Grass, Flying, or Ground foes.
Battle Planning Tips
Use the target field for quick matchup notes. It checks one defensive type at a time. Dual type matchups need manual review. Compare the type with your Pokémon role. Special types use Special Attack in this generation. Physical types use Attack. That split can change whether the result is useful.
Team Building Use
Classic teams often need surprise coverage. Hidden Power can help Electric Pokémon hit Ground types. It can help Grass types pressure Fire checks. It can also give physical attackers an unusual special option. The best spread depends on role, stats, and available moves.
Exporting Results
CSV export helps save many spreads. PDF export creates a simple record for guides or notes. Use them when comparing breeding targets. Keep the bit breakdown with each result. It explains why the type and power appeared. That makes later edits faster and safer.
Practical Warning
This tool assumes valid Generation Two DVs. It does not extract DVs from save files. It also does not calculate exact battle damage. Use it for Hidden Power planning first. Then test your moveset inside the game.
Breeding paths can take time. Record failed spreads too. They may support another teammate, a trade project, or a different coverage idea.
