Formula Used

Total nutrient = main item nutrient × quantity × portion percent + side + drink + sauce + extras + manual adjustment.

Macro calories = protein grams × 4 + carbohydrate grams × 4 + fat grams × 9.

Sodium percent = total sodium ÷ sodium goal × 100.

Balance score starts from a base score. It adds protein and fiber value. It subtracts penalties for large calorie gaps, high sodium, and high sugar.

Meal Planning Made Simple

A deli order can look simple, yet the final nutrition total often changes quickly. Bread, cheese, dressings, soups, sides, and drinks can add calories and sodium. This calculator helps you review those choices before ordering. It works as a planning guide, not a medical label. You can select sample menu items, adjust servings, add extras, and enter custom values when needed.

Why Nutrition Estimates Matter

Nutrition planning is easier when every part of the meal is visible. Many people only check the main sandwich. They may forget the side, sauce, sweet tea, or cookie. Small additions can shift a meal from light to heavy. This tool places those pieces in one total. It also compares the result with your calorie goal, sodium goal, and macro targets. That helps you decide whether to reduce a portion, swap a side, or skip an add-on.

Using The Results

The result panel shows total calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, sugar, fiber, and sodium. It also estimates calories from macros. Protein and carbohydrates use four calories per gram. Fat uses nine calories per gram. The macro calorie estimate may not perfectly match listed calories, because restaurant data often includes rounding. Use the comparison as a helpful check.

Better Daily Choices

A balanced order depends on your needs. Someone seeking higher protein may choose lean meat and avoid extra dressing. Someone watching sodium may choose smaller portions and limit salty sides. Someone managing calories may use the half serving option. The score in this calculator rewards meals with useful protein and fiber. It reduces the score when sodium, sugar, or calories move far above the chosen targets.

Important Note

Restaurant recipes, serving sizes, and nutrition values can change. Treat the built in table as example data. Replace it with verified values from your preferred nutrition source before publishing. The custom fields make that easy. You can also download the result as a CSV file or PDF report. These exports are useful for meal logs, client notes, diet planning, or simple personal tracking. The calculator is designed for everyday decision support, clear comparisons, and fast order planning. It keeps complex nutrition math visible without making the page difficult to use for beginners today.

FAQs

Is this calculator official nutrition data?

No. The built in values are sample values. Replace them with verified nutrition data before using the calculator on a public website.

Can I add custom menu items?

Yes. Choose the custom item option. Then enter calories, macros, sugar, fiber, and sodium for your own meal or recipe.

Why do macro calories differ from listed calories?

Protein, carbs, and fat are estimated with standard calorie factors. Listed restaurant calories may use rounded values, recipe details, and serving variations.

How does portion percent work?

Portion percent scales the main item only. Use 50 for half, 100 for full, or 150 for one and a half servings.

Does the score mean a meal is healthy?

The score is only a planning guide. It compares the meal with your entered goals for calories, sodium, protein, sugar, and fiber.

Can I track sodium?

Yes. Enter your sodium goal in milligrams. The result shows total sodium and the percent of your entered goal used.

Can I download my result?

Yes. After calculating, use the CSV or PDF button. The export includes item choices, nutrients, goal comparisons, and score.

Can this help with weight goals?

It can support planning by estimating calories and macros. For personal diet advice, consult a qualified nutrition or medical professional.
