Formula Used

Pitch factor = √(rise² + run²) ÷ run

Gross roof area = (length × width × roof planes × pitch factor) − deduction area

Order area = gross roof area × (1 + waste percent ÷ 100)

Roofing squares = gross roof area ÷ 100

Panel coverage area = panel coverage width in feet × panel length

Panels needed = ceiling(order area ÷ panel coverage area)

Panel cost = panels needed × panel length × panel price per linear foot

Total estimate = material subtotal + tax + labor + tear off
