Advanced Damage Inputs

Formula Used

Average base hit = ((minimum damage + maximum damage) / 2 + flat added damage) × damage effectiveness. Hit damage = average base hit × increased multiplier × more multipliers × critical factor. Enemy adjusted hit = hit damage × resistance factor × shock factor.

Hit DPS = enemy adjusted hit × hit rate × hits per use × projectiles × hit chance × uptime. Total DPS = hit DPS + ignite DPS + poison DPS + bleed DPS. Ailment values are simplified estimates for comparison.

How To Use This Calculator

  1. Enter your base weapon or spell damage.
  2. Add skill damage effectiveness and flat added damage.
  3. Enter increased, more, support, and conditional damage values.
  4. Add hit rate, projectile overlap, hit chance, and uptime.
  5. Include critical strike, resistance, penetration, and shock values.
  6. Add ailment values if your build uses ignite, poison, or bleed.
  7. Press calculate and review the result above the form.
  8. Download CSV or PDF for later comparison.

Understanding a PoE Build DPS Calculator

A PoE build DPS calculator helps players study damage before changing gear. It turns many combat ideas into one clear estimate. You can test weapons, gems, critical strikes, ailment stacks, enemy resistance, and uptime. This makes planning easier. It also reduces blind upgrades.

Why DPS Matters

Damage per second is not only a single hit. It also depends on how often the skill hits. It changes with projectiles, repeat hits, triggers, and skill uptime. A slow slam may show a huge average hit. A fast spell may win through repeated hits. This tool shows both ideas together.

Core Hit Damage

The calculator starts with average weapon or spell damage. It adds flat damage. It then applies damage effectiveness. Increased damage is grouped as one multiplier. More damage is applied as separate scaling. Critical strike chance and multiplier are included. Enemy resistance and penetration adjust the final hit. Hit chance and uptime keep the output realistic.

Ailment Planning

Many Path of Exile builds scale damage over time. Ignite, poison, and bleed can change the real feel of a build. The calculator gives separate ailment estimates. Poison uses eligible physical or chaos damage, duration, chance, and stack limits. Bleed uses physical damage and a moving target setting. Ignite uses a fire portion and active ignite count.

Advanced Build Checks

This page is useful for comparing gem links, flask uptime, charge bonuses, curse effects, and boss resistance. You can make one change, calculate, and record the result. Then repeat the process with another setup. The example table shows how build variants may be compared.

Exporting Your Results

The CSV export is helpful for spreadsheets. The PDF export is useful for build notes. Keep your inputs consistent when comparing setups. Do not compare a mapping setup with full uptime against a boss setup with low uptime.

Important Limits

This calculator is an estimate. The real game has many interactions. Some mechanics use special rules. Some enemies have phases, buffs, or defenses. Use the result as a planning guide, not an exact simulator. It is best for comparing options under the same assumptions.

For best use, save one baseline result first. Then change only one variable each test carefully.

FAQs

What is a PoE build DPS calculator?

It is a planning tool that estimates damage per second from hit damage, attack speed, cast speed, critical strikes, ailments, resistance, and uptime.

Is this calculator exact?

No. It gives a practical estimate. Path of Exile has many special interactions. Use this tool for comparison, not final simulation.

Can I calculate poison DPS?

Yes. Enter poison chance, eligible damage portion, duration, stack limit, and more damage. The calculator estimates active stacks and total poison damage.

Can I include ignite damage?

Yes. Add ignite chance, fire portion, ignite scaling, and active ignite count. The result shows a separate ignite DPS estimate.

How does resistance affect DPS?

Enemy resistance reduces final hit damage. Penetration or exposure lowers effective resistance, which can raise damage against bosses and rare enemies.

What does uptime mean?

Uptime is the percent of time your build actually deals damage. Movement, dodging, phases, and cooldown gaps can reduce uptime.

Why add projectiles or overlaps?

Some skills hit more than once. Extra projectiles, area overlaps, repeats, and triggers can multiply real hit frequency.

Can I export my result?

Yes. After calculating, use the CSV button for spreadsheets or the PDF button for saved build notes.
