Pokemon Go Breakpoint Planning Guide
Why Breakpoints Matter
A breakpoint is a small but useful damage jump. It appears when one more power-up lets a move deal one extra point of damage. That sounds minor. It can be large in raids because fast moves repeat many times. One extra point on every fast move can save seconds. It can also reduce fainting risk during tight battles.
Inputs That Change Damage
Damage depends on attack, defense, move power, and multipliers. Attack IV can matter when the raw damage value sits close to the next whole number. Level matters because the CP multiplier raises the effective attack stat. The defender level and defense stat also matter. A bulky defender may delay the next damage jump.
Modifiers Need Care
Type effectiveness often creates the largest swing. STAB adds a steady boost when the move type matches the attacker. Weather, friendship, mega support, and shadow bonuses can move the raw number across a floor boundary. For that reason, the same Pokemon may have different breakpoints in different raid groups.
How to Read Results
The current damage box shows the integer damage used in battle. The raw damage box shows the hidden value before flooring. The attack gap tells how close the attacker is to the next damage point. The scan table highlights levels where final damage increases. If no breakpoint appears, the next gain is outside your selected range.
Practical Power-Up Advice
Use the next breakpoint level before spending resources. If the gain is only one half-level away, powering up may be efficient. If it is many levels away, the cost may be too high. Compare several attackers before choosing. This is useful for rare candy, XL candy, and stardust planning. Always match settings to the battle you expect.
Also test the same attacker at different IV values. This helps you decide whether to invest in a perfect one, a lucky one, or a shadow one. Sometimes a lower level shadow attacker reaches the same damage point sooner. Sometimes a non-shadow option is cheaper and safer. Use CSV exports for team notes. Share the report before raid hour begins.
