Example Data Table

Defensive Types Ability Major Weakness Major Resistance Immunity
Water / Flying None Electric 4× Fighting 0.5× Ground 0×
Fire / Steel Flash Fire Ground 4× Bug 0.25× Poison 0×, Fire 0×
Electric Levitate None from type chart Flying 0.5× Ground 0×

Formula Used

Final defensive multiplier equals first type value multiplied by second type value, item modifier, and ability modifier.

Formula: Final multiplier = Type A matchup × Type B matchup × item factor × ability factor.

A single type uses one matchup value. A dual type multiplies two values. If either type gives immunity, the base result becomes zero. Ring Target can remove type immunity. Some abilities can also add immunity or reduce super effective damage.

How To Use This Calculator

  1. Select the primary defensive type.
  2. Select a secondary type, or leave it as none.
  3. Choose a Tera type only when you want single type defense.
  4. Select an ability or held item modifier when needed.
  5. Add a custom note for your team plan.
  6. Press submit to show the full matchup table.
  7. Use CSV or PDF buttons to save the result.

What This Calculator Does

This calculator studies how a defending Pokémon handles every attacking type. It supports one type or two types. It also supports common ability style modifiers. The result helps you see danger points before a match. It also shows safe switch options for team planning.

Why Type Weakness Matters

Every battle uses type matchups. A strong matchup can double damage. A weak matchup can cut damage in half. Some matchups block damage completely. Dual types multiply both defensive results together. That is why some Pokémon have a four times weakness. It is also why some Pokémon resist an attack by one quarter.

Advanced Battle Planning

A simple weakness list is useful. A full table is better. This tool separates weaknesses, resistances, immunities, and neutral hits. You can compare an ordinary type pair with ability changes. Levitate can remove Ground damage. Thick Fat can reduce Fire and Ice damage. Other immunity abilities can change a risky switch into a safe one.

How To Read Results

The multiplier is the main value. A value of 4 means extreme danger. A value of 2 means the attack is super effective. A value of 1 means neutral damage. A value of 0.5 or 0.25 means reduced damage. A value of 0 means no damage from that attack type.

Team Building Benefits

Use the calculator while building a party. Check each member for repeated weaknesses. Then add teammates that resist those threats. A balanced team should not fear one common attacking type too much. It should also include safe pivots for popular coverage moves.

Practical Examples

A Water and Flying defender takes four times Electric damage. It resists Fighting, Bug, Steel, Fire, and Water. It ignores Ground attacks. A Fire and Steel defender fears Ground by four times. Yet it has many strong resistances and one Poison immunity.

Best Use Cases

Use this page before raids, gyms, casual battles, draft leagues, and challenge runs. It is also helpful for learning type logic. Beginners can see the whole chart at once. Experienced players can test ability changes quickly. The exported files help save notes for later teams. Shared planning becomes easier for friends and coaches. League partners can review saved tests.

FAQs

What does 4× weakness mean?

It means both defensive types are weak to that attacking type. Damage is multiplied by four before other battle effects are considered.

What does 0× mean?

It means the attack type has no effect. This can come from type immunity, an ability, or an item based modifier.

Can I calculate single type Pokémon?

Yes. Select the main type and leave the secondary type as none. The table will use only one defensive type.

Can this handle Tera type defense?

Yes. Choose a Tera type override. The calculator will ignore normal dual typing and use the selected single type.

Why are ability options included?

Some abilities change defensive matchups. Levitate, Flash Fire, Thick Fat, and similar effects can change important battle decisions.

Does Ring Target remove all immunities?

This tool uses Ring Target for type based immunity removal. Ability based immunity can still apply after item handling.

What should I check first?

Start with the severe weaknesses. Then review immunities and strong resistances. These values guide safer switch choices.

Can I save my results?

Yes. Use the CSV button for spreadsheet records. Use the PDF button for a quick printable matchup report.
