Main Average Depth = (Shallow Depth + Deep Depth) ÷ 2

If shelves are entered, the calculator creates a weighted depth.

Weighted Depth = Shelf Depth × Shelf Fraction + Main Depth × Remaining Fraction

The water volume is then calculated as cubic feet and converted to gallons.

Gallons = Surface Area × Weighted Depth × 7.48051948

Net gallons subtract rock and equipment displacement. Planning gallons add your selected overage.
