Formula Used
This calculator uses a tropical zodiac ascendant method. It converts local birth time to UTC. Then it finds the Julian Day. Greenwich Mean Sidereal Time is calculated first. Local Sidereal Time is found by adding birth longitude.
The core sidereal formula is:
GMST = 280.46061837 + 360.98564736629 × (JD - 2451545) + 0.000387933T² - T³ / 38710000.
Here, T is Julian centuries from J2000.0.
The ascendant is the ecliptic longitude crossing the eastern horizon. The script tests zodiac longitudes from 0° to 360°. It solves the horizon crossing with bisection. The rising point has a negative hour angle.
Final zodiac sign is found by dividing ecliptic longitude into twelve 30° sections. The result is an estimate. Exact professional charts may vary due to ephemeris model, birth record accuracy, daylight saving rules, and location precision.
