Slope ratio = rise ÷ run = tan(angle) = percent slope ÷ 100.

Pitch per 12 = slope ratio × 12.

Roof pitch multiplier = √(1 + slope ratio²).

Rafter length = covered horizontal run × roof pitch multiplier.

Sloped roof area = horizontal plan area × roof pitch multiplier.

Area with waste = sloped roof area × (1 + waste percent ÷ 100).
