Formula Used

Distance charge = miles × rate per mile × vehicle factor. Plaza charge = plaza count × plaza fee × vehicle factor. Extra axle charge = extra axles × extra axle fee × plaza count. Trailer charge = trailer axles × trailer axle fee × plaza count.

Subtotal = distance charge + plaza charge + extra axle charge + trailer charge. Timed subtotal = subtotal × timing factor. Discount = timed subtotal × discount percent. Total = timed subtotal - discount + fees + tax. Round trip doubles the one way total.

How to Use This Calculator

Choose an entry marker and an exit marker. Add a custom distance when your trip does not match the listed markers. Select the vehicle class, axles, toll plazas, rate profile, travel timing, and payment method. Add bridge fees, admin fees, taxes, or a minimum toll when needed. Press Calculate Toll to view the result above the form. Use the CSV or PDF button to save the same estimate.

Route 95 Toll Planning Guide

Why Toll Estimates Matter

A Route 95 trip can cross many road sections. Each section may use its own toll rule. Some places charge by mile. Some charge at plazas. Others add bridge, tunnel, or invoice fees. This calculator gives one planning screen for those moving parts. It is useful for commuters, families, dispatchers, and trip planners.

Flexible Inputs

The form supports marker based distance and custom distance. That helps when a trip starts between exits. Vehicle class changes the base charge. Axles also matter because toll agencies often price heavier vehicles higher. Trailer axles are separated, so a camper or freight trailer can be estimated without changing the main vehicle.

Payment and Timing

Payment type can change the final amount. Electronic tags may receive a discount. Pay by plate or invoice billing may add service fees. Peak periods can also raise the estimate. Off peak travel can lower it. The timing factor lets you test both cases before choosing a travel window.

Advanced Cost Control

Extra fields make the tool more useful. You can add a bridge fee, admin charge, tax percent, or minimum toll. You can also enter a manual discount. This is helpful for local programs, fleet contracts, or special rate tables. The export buttons create records for quotes, reimbursement, and delivery logs.

Important Rate Note

The built in figures are sample planning values. Replace them with official rates from the correct toll authority when exact billing is required. Tolls can change by state, agency, direction, time, vehicle height, axle count, and payment account status.

FAQs

Is this calculator using live toll rates?

No. It uses editable planning values. Replace the sample rates with official toll authority rates when you need an exact charge.

Can I calculate a custom Route 95 distance?

Yes. Enter a custom distance in miles. The calculator will use it instead of the marker distance.

Why do axles change the toll?

Many toll systems charge more for heavier vehicles. Extra axles usually mean more road wear and a higher toll class.

What does the timing option do?

It applies a multiplier for off peak, normal, peak, or holiday travel. You can adjust those factors in the code.

How does the electronic tag discount work?

The default tag option applies a discount. You can override it by entering a manual discount percent.

Can I include bridge or tunnel costs?

Yes. Enter the extra amount in the bridge or tunnel fee field. It is added after the base toll subtotal.

Does the round trip option double all costs?

Yes. It doubles the calculated one way total. Use one way when return travel uses a different road or rate.

Can I export the toll result?

Yes. Use the CSV or PDF button after entering your trip values. The file includes the main cost breakdown.
