Formula Used
Total Score = Base Points + Item Count Points + Category Points + Item Value Points
Base points are 14. Item count points use 2x - 9, where x is the number of filled slots. Category points give 5 points for each unique valid category, up to 30 points. Item value points are estimated from sell price and quality, capped at 8 per item.
Placement thresholds are simple. First place needs 90 points or more. Second place needs 75. Third place needs 60. A lower score gives fourth place. Lucky Purple Shorts cause a special disqualification result.
How to Use This Calculator
Enter each planned grange item in a separate slot. Add its category, quality, and sell price. Fill all nine slots when possible, because empty slots reduce the item count score. Pick at least six valid categories to gain the full variety bonus. Then press the calculate button.
The result appears above the form and below the header. Review the score parts. If the display falls short, improve weak items. Replace low-value normal items with high-value gold or iridium items. You can also download the result as CSV or PDF.

Why the Display Matters
The grange display is one of the most useful scoring events at the Stardew Valley Fair. It rewards planning, variety, quality, and item value. A strong display can win first place and give many Star Tokens. This makes the fair easier to complete. You can buy prizes faster and spend less time on games.
Build Around Variety
Do not use nine items from one category unless they are your only strong options. The fair rewards category spread. Six categories can earn the full category bonus. Animal products, artisan goods, vegetables, fruits, fish, minerals, foraging items, and cooked dishes can all help. Mix them before chasing only price.
Quality and Price
High sell price usually creates better item points. Quality also helps. Gold and iridium items are often safer than normal items. Expensive artisan goods, rare fish, valuable crops, and strong animal products are excellent choices. A few great items can raise the score quickly, but weak empty slots still hurt.
Use All Nine Slots
The item count formula rewards filled spaces. Even an average item may be better than leaving a space empty. This is important for early farms. You may not have perfect items during the first Fall. Still, nine reasonable items with several categories can perform well.
Aim for First Place
First place needs a strong total score. This calculator shows the score parts separately. Use that view to find the problem. If category points are low, add variety. If item points are low, add better quality. If item count points are low, fill more slots. Small changes can move the display from second place to first.

Including Mayor Lewis's Lucky Purple Shorts causes a special disqualification result. You receive 750 Star Tokens instead of normal placement rewards.
7. Are artisan goods useful?
Yes. Many artisan goods have high sell prices. Wine, cheese, oil, and jelly can be strong choices when paired with varied categories.
8. Can early farms win first place?
Yes, but it needs planning. Fill nine slots, use several categories, and choose the best quality items available before the fair.
