Portion safety and max-safe estimates
| # | Food | Categories per 100g | Max safe portion (g) | Target serving (g) | Status | Notes |

Formula used
Each food can contain one or more FODMAP categories. Provide approximate content in grams per 100 g of food. For a category c with content content_c_per100 and a user-set threshold threshold_c (both in grams), the maximum safe portion is:
portion_c = threshold_c / (content_c_per100 / 100) max_safe_portion = min over all categories with content > 0 of portion_c
If a food has no values or all thresholds are zero, the calculator cannot estimate a safe portion. Status for a target serving is computed relative to max_safe_portion using the simple traffic-light rule displayed above.
- Green: target ≤ 80% of max safe portion
- Amber: near the threshold (≈ 80–120%)
- Red: exceeds the threshold (> 120%)
This tool is educational. Actual tolerance varies widely between individuals. Always verify data with authoritative sources and seek professional advice when needed.
How to use this calculator
- Set example category thresholds or enter your own targets according to guidance from a clinician or trusted database.
- Adjust the target serving size to evaluate.
- Review the example foods. Replace placeholder values with data from reliable sources, or add new foods via the form.
- Check the status color for your target serving and the calculator’s estimated maximum safe portion.
- Export the table to CSV or PDF, or get a shareable URL that preserves your inputs.
- Use the filter to quickly search by food or FODMAP category.
