FAQs

1. Does this calculator include overtime pay?

Yes. Enter overtime hours and the overtime multiplier. The calculator separates regular pay from overtime pay, then combines them for weekly and semester totals.

2. Can I use this for work-study jobs?

Yes. Add your work-study award cap to see estimated usage, remaining funding, funded weeks until the cap, and any projected over-cap amount.

3. Are the tax results exact payroll values?

No. Taxes here are planning estimates based on the rate you enter. Actual withholding depends on payroll setup, local rules, and tax documents.

4. How are unpaid breaks handled?

Unpaid break minutes are converted into weekly break hours and subtracted from scheduled hours. This gives a more realistic paid-hours estimate.

5. What should I enter for deductions?

Use pre-tax deductions for items reducing taxable pay first. Use post-tax deductions for items removed after estimated tax, such as certain fees or repayments.

6. Can I compare multiple campus jobs?

Yes. Run the calculator several times with different rates, hours, and funding caps. The example table can guide realistic comparison inputs.

7. Does bonus income count in semester pay?

Yes. Any bonus or stipend entered is added to semester gross pay, then included in the estimated tax and net calculations.

8. Is this only for students in higher education?

It is built for campus roles in colleges and universities, but it can also estimate earnings for similar part-time academic jobs.
