Formula Used

Refund Amount = Gross Sales × Refund Rate

Sales After Refunds = Gross Sales − Refund Amount

Discount Amount = Sales After Refunds × Discount Rate

Qualified Sales = Sales After Refunds − Discount Amount

Percentage Commission = Qualified Sales × Affiliate Rate

Flat Commission = Conversions × Flat Fee Per Conversion

Base Commission depends on the chosen model:

  • Percentage: Percentage Commission
  • Flat: Flat Commission
  • Hybrid: Percentage Commission + Flat Commission

Override Amount = Base Commission × Override Rate

Commission Subtotal = Base Commission + Override Amount + Bonus Amount

Network Fee Amount = (Commission Subtotal × Network Fee Rate) + Fixed Platform Fee

Tax Withholding = Commission Subtotal × Tax Rate

Total Affiliate Cost = Commission Subtotal + Network Fee Amount + Tax Withholding

Net Revenue After Fees = Qualified Sales − Total Affiliate Cost

Effective Fee Rate = (Total Affiliate Cost ÷ Gross Sales) × 100

FAQs

1. What does this affiliate fee calculator measure?

It estimates full affiliate program costs, including commissions, refunds, bonuses, taxes, overrides, and network fees. It also shows net revenue, effective fee rate, and cost per conversion.

2. Can I use flat and percentage payouts together?

Yes. Choose the hybrid model to combine a percentage commission with a fixed amount per approved conversion. This is useful for mixed partner incentives.

3. Why are refunds and discounts included?

They reduce qualified sales before commission analysis. That gives a more realistic payout estimate, especially for ecommerce campaigns with returns, coupon leakage, or frequent promotions.

4. What is the effective fee rate?

Effective fee rate shows total affiliate cost as a percentage of gross sales. It helps compare partner programs against paid search, influencer campaigns, or marketplace fees.

5. What does breakeven ROAS mean here?

It compares gross sales to total affiliate cost. A higher value means your program generates more sales for each dollar spent on affiliate-related expenses.

6. Can I export the results?

Yes. The calculator includes CSV export on the server side and PDF export in the browser. Both are useful for reporting, budgeting, and internal approval workflows.

7. What if I do not know gross sales yet?

Enter conversions and average order value. The calculator can estimate gross sales from those two values, which is useful during planning and forecast reviews.

8. Is this calculator suitable for lead generation programs?

Yes. Use the flat or hybrid model for approved leads, signups, or booked calls. You can still include fees, taxes, bonuses, and override structures.
