Formula used

This calculator standardizes mixed marketing metrics into a single score using normalization, dimension averaging, then weighting.

1) Normalize every metric to 0–100

  • Percent metrics: score = clamp(value, 0, 100)
  • Ratings: score = (value ÷ maxScale) × 100
  • Sentiment / NPS: score = (value + 100) ÷ 2
  • Inverse metrics: score = (1 − value ÷ worstCase) × 100
  • Linear ranges: score = (value − min) ÷ (max − min) × 100

2) Compute five dimension averages

  • Awareness: mean of aided, unaided, SOV, and search share
  • Associations: mean of consideration, preference, rating, sentiment
  • Perceived quality: mean of quality, reviews, inverse returns, inverse complaints, compliance
  • Loyalty: mean of retention, repeat, NPS, advocacy
  • Financial strength: mean of price premium, share, and growth

3) Weighted sum gives the final score

Brand Equity Score = Σ (dimensionScore × dimensionWeight) where weights are normalized to total 100%.

How to use this calculator

  1. Collect metrics from surveys, analytics, CRM, and social listening.
  2. Enter values in the matching fields using your chosen time period.
  3. Adjust scale options for ratings and reviews if needed.
  4. Set “worst-case” thresholds for returns and complaints.
  5. Update weights to match your strategy, then calculate.
  6. Download CSV or PDF to share and compare scenarios.

FAQs

1) What does the brand equity score represent?

It combines awareness, meaning, perceived quality, loyalty, and commercial strength into one standardized 0–100 score. It helps compare brands, periods, or scenarios using consistent rules.

2) Do weights have to add up to 100?

No. If auto-normalize is enabled, your weights are scaled to total 100% automatically. This prevents accidental over- or under-weighting when you experiment.

3) Why are returns and complaints “inverse” metrics?

Because lower values are better. The calculator converts them into higher scores when returns or complaints drop, using your selected worst-case thresholds.

4) Can I use this for B2B brands?

Yes. Replace consumer survey inputs with account-based equivalents, such as aided recall among decision makers, renewal rates, and sentiment from stakeholder interviews.

5) What if I don’t have every metric?

Use your best available estimates, or leave uncertain values near conservative baselines. Over time, improve data quality and keep definitions consistent for trend accuracy.

6) How should I pick worst-case thresholds?

Use your category reality: a “bad” return rate and complaint rate for your industry. If unsure, start with 30% returns and 50 complaints per 1000, then adjust.

7) Does a high financial score guarantee high equity?

Not always. Strong revenue or share can come from distribution or price tactics. Equity is more durable when awareness, associations, quality, and loyalty are also strong.

8) How can I improve the score fastest?

Start with the lowest dimension shown in results. Fix the biggest frictions, then measure again. Small quality and loyalty improvements often create compounding gains.
