Supported Shape Logic

Some shapes also show lateral area and base area. These extra values make the result easier to audit. Ellipsoid area uses a common approximation, because an exact simple formula is not available.
Units and Precision
You may choose meters, centimeters, millimeters, inches, feet, or yards. The calculator keeps the selected unit in the result. Area is shown in square units. Decimal precision can be changed from zero to six places. This is useful for rough classroom work and detailed estimates. You can also add a material rate to estimate a basic surface cost.
Checking Results
Always enter positive dimensions. Use the same unit for every dimension. For a cone, slant height may be entered directly. If it is blank, the calculator derives it from radius and height. For a triangular prism, enter the triangle sides and prism length. The tool checks whether the triangle is valid before using Heron's formula.
