Contribution Percentage = (Individual Amount ÷ Reference Total) × 100
Share Decimal = Individual Amount ÷ Reference Total
Completion Percentage = (Sum of All Contributions ÷ Reference Total) × 100
Remaining / Gap = Reference Total − Sum of All Contributions
HHI Concentration = Sum of each contribution percentage squared
When you choose the entered sum as the total, all contribution percentages together equal 100%. When you choose a custom total, the combined percentage may be below or above 100%.
| Contributor | Amount | Reference Total | Contribution % | Share Decimal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Salaries | 420 | 1000 | 42.00% | 0.4200 |
| Marketing | 180 | 1000 | 18.00% | 0.1800 |
| Operations | 250 | 1000 | 25.00% | 0.2500 |
| Savings | 150 | 1000 | 15.00% | 0.1500 |
It shows how much one amount contributes to a chosen total. The result is expressed as a percentage, making it easy to compare contributors, categories, or components.
Use a custom total when your entries should be compared against a target, budget, capacity, quota, or planned amount instead of the entered sum.
That happens when the entered amounts do not fully use the reference total. The remaining portion appears as a gap or unallocated share.
It exceeds 100% when the sum of contributions is larger than the custom reference total. This signals over-allocation, over-budget conditions, or target overflow.
Share decimal is the same contribution in decimal form. For example, 25% equals 0.25. It is useful in formulas, spreadsheets, and weighted calculations.
HHI is a concentration measure. Higher values mean contributions are dominated by fewer contributors, while lower values indicate a more evenly distributed set of amounts.
Yes. The calculator accepts decimal values, lets you choose display precision, and keeps the results consistent across the table, summary metrics, and chart.
