The Conversion Process Explained
Converting an improper fraction into a mixed number requires basic division with a remainder. First, divide the numerator by the denominator. The resulting integer quotient becomes the whole number part of your mixed number. Next, take the remainder from that division and place it directly over the original denominator. Finally, check if the resulting proper fraction can be reduced further by finding the greatest common divisor for both the numerator and denominator, ensuring your final answer is always written in its simplest reduced form.
