Formula Used

  1. Normalized Domain Score = (Entered Score / Scale Maximum) × 100
  2. Weighted Core Score = Σ (Normalized Domain Score × Weight Share)
  3. Pressure Load = (Normalized Stress × 0.18) + (Normalized Burnout × 0.14)
  4. Protective Lift = Recovery Bonus + Sleep Hours Bonus + Support Bonus
  5. Recovery Bonus = (Recovery Days / 7) × 8
  6. Sleep Hours Bonus = 8 for 7–9 hours, 4 for near-optimal ranges, 1 for marginal ranges, otherwise 0
  7. Support Bonus = lower of Support Contacts or 6
  8. Resilience Capacity Index = clamp(Weighted Core Score − Pressure Load + Protective Lift, 0, 100)

Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does this calculator measure?

It estimates available resilience capacity by combining coping strengths, support quality, recovery habits, and pressure factors. The result is a structured wellness index, not a clinical diagnosis.

2) Is this a diagnostic mental health tool?

No. It is a planning and reflection tool. It can help organize self-observations, but it does not diagnose disorders or replace licensed professional assessment.

3) Why do stress and burnout reduce the score?

High stress and burnout consume energy, attention, and emotional bandwidth. The model treats them as pressure loads that reduce how much resilience is practically available right now.

4) When should I use custom weights?

Use custom weights when your program values some domains more than others. For example, a workplace screening model may emphasize recovery and problem solving differently than a student support model.

5) Which scale should I choose?

Choose the scale that matches your survey or reflection method. A 5-point, 7-point, or 10-point approach will work because the calculator normalizes all entries to a 100-point basis.

6) What is a good resilience score?

Higher scores indicate stronger available capacity. Scores above 70 suggest a solid base, while lower scores can highlight strain, uneven recovery, or support gaps needing attention.

7) How often should I recalculate it?

Weekly or biweekly tracking works well for most people. Recheck after schedule changes, high-pressure periods, sleep disruptions, or when trying a new support strategy.

8) Can strong support offset weak recovery habits?

Partly, but not fully. Support helps, yet poor recovery can still drain cognitive and emotional resources. Balanced improvement usually gives a steadier resilience profile.
