Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why does the calculator use both total mg and mg/kg?

Total milligrams show the full daily amount. Mg/kg adds body size context, which is useful when a bodyweight reference is more appropriate, especially for younger users or custom review.

2. Can I replace the preset caffeine values?

Yes. Presets are only starting points. Packaged products, café drinks, and supplements often vary, so entering the label value makes the estimate more accurate.

3. Why are energy drinks treated cautiously for younger users?

Energy drinks can deliver caffeine quickly and may also include other stimulants or large serving sizes. The calculator highlights extra caution when younger users include them.

4. Does the calculator track timing during the day?

No. This version totals daily intake. It does not model absorption timing, bedtime effects, or how long caffeine stays in your body.

5. Can I use it for supplements or pre-workout products?

Yes. Choose a custom source and enter the caffeine amount listed on the product label per serving, then add the number of servings taken.

6. Why might two coffees have different caffeine amounts?

Caffeine can change with bean type, brew method, roast, cup size, and brand. That is why editable fields are better than fixed estimates alone.

7. What does a negative remaining value mean?

A negative value means the total has gone above the selected target. The magnitude of the negative number shows how many milligrams the target was exceeded by.

8. Is this calculator medical advice?

No. It is an educational estimator. People with health conditions, medication interactions, high sensitivity, or special dietary needs should seek individualized professional guidance.
