Calculator Inputs
Use preset percentages or calculate protein and fat from body weight.
Example Data Table
This sample shows how a 2400 kcal plan looks under different macro strategies.
| Scenario | Calories | Protein | Carbs | Fat | Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Balanced Split | 2400 kcal | 180 g | 240 g | 80 g | 30:40:30 |
| High Protein | 2400 kcal | 210 g | 210 g | 80 g | 35:35:30 |
| Low Carb | 2400 kcal | 210 g | 120 g | 120 g | 35:20:45 |
Formula Used
Protein calories = Protein grams × 4
Carbohydrate calories = Carbohydrate grams × 4
Fat calories = Fat grams × 9
Preset mode uses each percentage against daily calories, then converts calories to grams.
Bodyweight mode uses protein grams = body weight in kg × protein per kg, fat grams = body weight in kg × fat per kg, and assigns remaining calories to carbohydrates.
Per-meal target = Daily macro grams ÷ meals per day.
Fiber planning target = Daily calories ÷ 1000 × 14.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does a macronutrient split calculator do?
It converts your calorie target into daily grams of protein, carbohydrates, and fat. It also shows percentages, calorie contribution, and per-meal averages for planning.
2. When should I use preset mode?
Use preset mode when you already prefer a known pattern, such as balanced, low-carb, ketogenic, or high-protein. It is faster and useful for quick scenario comparisons.
3. When is the bodyweight method useful?
It helps when protein and fat targets are easier to set from body weight. After those are fixed, the calculator places the remaining calories into carbohydrates automatically.
4. Why do fat grams look lower than carbs?
Fat has 9 calories per gram, while protein and carbohydrates have 4. The same calorie share therefore produces fewer grams of fat.
5. Can I use custom percentages?
Yes. Choose the custom percentage profile and enter protein, carbohydrate, and fat percentages that total exactly 100. The tool will calculate grams from that split.
6. Does this calculator create a meal plan?
No. It creates numerical daily and per-meal macro targets. You can then map those targets onto foods, recipes, or meal templates you already use.
7. What if protein and fat exceed my calories?
The calculator will show an error because no calories remain for carbohydrates. Lower protein per kilogram, fat per kilogram, or raise the calorie target.
8. Is this suitable for medical nutrition therapy?
No. This page is a general planning tool. Medical conditions, medications, pregnancy, or therapeutic diets should be reviewed with a qualified clinician or dietitian.
